Elizabeth Joiner provides a presentation for MPICT (Mid-Pacific Information, Communication, Technology) on a California Perkins Joint Special Populations Advisory Committee. The project is funded by the California Department of Education and the California Community College Chancellor's Office and authorized by the California State Plan for Career and Technical Education. Special Populations include individuals with disabilities, displaced homemakers, economically disadvantaged students, those with limited English proficiency, single parents, and individuals preparing for a career that is nontraditional. The presentation describes the Perkins Act, equity requirements, data reporting, data related to gender, ethnicity data, recruitment strategies, retention, and strategies for addressing primary root causes.
