Rebecca Choy
President, Associated Students of Norco College (ASNC)
Rebecca Choy, an accounting major and current President of the Associated Students of Norco College was born in Quezon City, Philippines. She moved to the United States at the age of three and continued her education in California. In 2007, she graduated from Don Antonio Lugo High School located within the Chino Valley Unified School District. Soon after, she attended Mount San Antonio College in Walnut, CA where she began her path towards transferring.
She joined Norco College in spring 2009 to complete her general education and to fulfill her goals of higher education within the Cal State University system. In spring 2010, she studied abroad in Salamanca, Spain and was able to travel, educate, and broaden her knowledge of various countries such as Italy, France, Portugal, and Germany. Upon returning to Norco College in the fall 2010, she was accepted into the honors program and immersed herself into a student life filled with extra-curricular activities. She took it upon herself to join both the Norco Scholars Association, an organization in conjunction with the honors program, and Alpha Gamma Sigma, a state-recognized honors society on campus.
In fall of 2011, she was elected into the ASNC as the Vice President of Administration and assumed the President's position in spring of 2012 for her grand finale as a member of the student government at Norco College. Ms. Choy has contributed hundreds of volunteer hours at events and activities within her local communities. Through the various opportunities in becoming an effective student leader, both local and state wide, she has learned the importance of teamwork and communication. These qualities have helped her become a celebrated leader for multiple student organizations. As a result of her hard work, perseverance, and leadership qualities she will be transferring to California State University, San Bernardino in the fall of 2012 to take part in their prestigious accounting program. Here she looks to use her past experiences for guidance and embark on new adventures that will aid her continued growth as a student and individual.
